"The agenda is brilliant: sample real-life conversation, followed by breakdown with insights."
"I love how perfectly paced the conversations are so I can keep up, and the acting is fantastic."
"Elisa’s first hand knowledge of Italian culture and the stories."
"What a fantastic podcast!! Easy to listen to and funny as well!"
"Ciao! I am new to learning Italian and diving in headfirst.
I have never been to Europe but ready to visit and stay in Italy, Portugal or Spain. I am nearing the end of my career, my children are grown and all I really want to do is slow down, see the sights, eat the food, greet the people. I have visions of Fiats and little markets with my wife. I can close my eyes and see the little cafe’s with patios and the smell of freshly baked bread.
I really do not like listening to podcasts, then I stumbled on yours. [Even if I don't understand everything] I listen to each episode multiple times and can imagine being there. For that, thank you."
"5 stars: An incredible linguistic and cultural learning opportunity.
This podcast is simply amazing.
I had wanted to add a more immersive component to my Italian language learning and happened upon Postcards from Italy. It’s so good. The scaffolding of each Italian lesson is brilliant, the round table discussions are fun and engaging , and the conversations between Elisa and Erin are informative, insightful and humorous. You learn so much about Italian customs, values and way of life in addition to their focus and passion on evidence based teaching. I HIGHLY recommend subscribing to the premium content. If you want to understand “la dolce vita” this is for you! You will LEARN SO MUCH! And I am truly just a beginner.
On a side note, I once had a little issue with accessing some content (my error) and I sent an email to the podcast. Erin responded immediately and helped me problem solve. Wow!"
"5 stars: Great format! I have to say thank you for the Postcards from Italy Podcast. It is an inspiring format, and the best one I have found to support Italian learning… fun, easy listening, and diving into the culture and idioms of the bella lingua.
I have been learning Italian for a year and 5 months using Duolingo. After 5 months, we went to Sicily, and I was worried about speaking the language. I got by and had some simple conversations with people who complimented me, an English guy (we are renowned for being monolingual!), on how well I was getting on with the language.
This podcast has given me the confidence that I have the ability to speak and understand the spoken language better.
A superb complement to intensive learning... and fun too!"
"The materials are very well done. I like being able to see both the Italian and English, along with detailed explanations. Also, I appreciate that you include both literal and actual translations, because it helps me to build vocabulary."
"I really like your [Instagram] videos as they are short and sweet ...not so overwhelming to listen to like I have found other podcasts to be. Thank you!"
"In the mid-1980s, I was in a camp for refugees in southern Italy. I fell in love with the language, but it was not a great time to focus on language study. I learnt what I could by picking up simple phrases from people working in the camp. Years went by and I am retired now; my kids have left the nest and it’s time to travel. I haven’t been to Italy since 1985 but have a trip scheduled for the springtime and want soooo much to talk to local people in Italian. I am using Duolingo, Pimsleur, Coffee break Italian and your podcast and I am relistening to your episodes now after subscribing to extra material.
I love your podcast. I laugh when you laugh and try to follow. Every time I listen, I understand more and more.
Thank you for a great podcast. I enjoy it a lot. Looking forward to more."
"Five Stars: Great compliment to my Italian learning! I especially like the story-based approach, the idioms and cultural notes. It is nice to learn more than just vocabulary and grammar but also the context and culture through a fun and engaging story. Grazie mille!"
